Iota DLS-45 Amp regulated battery charger works as a DC to DC Converter on 120 to 180 DC volt nominal pack cars, dual setting 13.8 or 14.3 volts out

IMPORTANT NOTE: When using as a DC-DC converter the two 110 AC input leads (the black and the white wire), go to battery pack most negative and most positive and it does not matter which one goes to which wire. Most people install an AC receptacle hooked to their high voltage DC so the unit can be unplugged and plugged into AC to charge their auxiliary if they wish.

The DLS series converter/power supply can be used with or without a battery. When used as a converter/power supply, the DLS model will only supply what is required by the load. When not in use it is essentially off, reducing electricity usage. Even in its subcompact size, the DLS series converter/power supply, at full load, has an operating temperature half that of some switch mode electronic models. This means substantially longer life and safer operation.

During times of heavy load demands, the automatic circuitry will activate the fan before thermal stress can occur on any internal components. Reliability and durability is built into all DLS models. In the event the batteries or the DLS unit is wired incorrectly, the DLS converter/power supply is protected from damage. External fuses can be quickly and easily replaced.

Multiple units can be operated in series or parallel to increase amperage for additional power.

An electric vacuum pump is used in electric and conventional vehicles to boost the vacuum needed for normal power brakes operation. The pumps featured here are manufactured specifically for electric vehicles by MES Switzerland; the type is 70/6E and 70/6E2.

The difference between two types is productivity, size, running current and type of integrated pressure switch.

70/6E and 70/6E2 has very low acoustic noise and vibration levels, and hardly noticed during operation. The vacuum is controlled by integrated control circuitry consisting of vacuum sensor and solid state vacuum switch. The 70/6E has relative pressure switch whereas 70/6E2 has absolute pressure switch. Both types will maintain preset vacuum level cycling on and off on its own between -600mbar (17.7" Hg)  and -650 mbar (19.2" Hg), however 70/6E will reduce vacuum level as atmospheric pressure drops (e.g. at high altitudes) so may never shut off. For instance, at he elevation of 4000 feet above sea level, the 70/6E may only be able to produce 15" Hg vacuum so the shutoff threshold  of 19.2" HG will never be reached. In contrast, 70/6E2 will always reach 19.2" regardless of the atmospheric pressure. This needs to be considered for your application.

The power required is 12...15 volts DC directly supplied to the pump all the time, no external switches needed.

  • What are the dimensions of the display.
5"  by  2 1/4...about 1" thick
  • Can it be mounted inside a Car?
Yes,  So far we have had no problems.  The screen seems to do better than most.,  but I am sure there is a limit.
  • Is it programmable?
yes ,    one of the nice features of these... is that you can also set the voltage on the screen to read some proportion of the battery pack,    for example.... I like to SEE  12V on the screen, if I have 12V batteries in the vehicle, no matter what the voltage.  And there is a place in there that sets a ratio, so if you have a 144 pack, you can make it read 12v  OR  120 and i your mind move the decimal.   The one problem with doing this is that the watts do not read right.  You can also program the Amps for the shunt you have.  And it has a way to zero out the Amp counter
  • Is the 350V the same cost as the 150V model. My pack is 144V, but my finish charge is 180V, so I'd need to move up.
We  only sell the High Voltage ones. Both seem to work down to 48v.  Maybe even lower.
  • I like the speed input, I guess I'd just put a magnet on my drive shaft and then connect that to the input.
Yes..  usually it is to the wheel,  but drive shaft might work. 
  • How is the distance calibrated?
There is setting for the wheel diameter.... but to get the MOST ACCURATE wheel diameter... you put a mark on the tire,  right at the ground and then push the car forward until the mark comes back down to the exact same place. Now measure between the first mark and the second..... this gives you the distance that the car will go in one revolution and you  input THAT millimeter number,     You can't type in   X  revolutions per mile.

  1. Once connected to the vehicle's power bus, the meter calculates and shows the following information:

    • Volts, Watts, Amps: The instantaneous electric power being drawn from the battery.
    • Amp-Hours, Watt Hours: The net energy that has been pulled from the pack since the meter was reset. The accumulated amp-hours let you know the remaining energy in the battery pack with far greater accuracy than a voltage or LED indicator.
    • Speed, Distance, Time: All of the basic features of a meter, including the average and maximum trip speeds, plus a total distance odometer.
    • Regen, Wh/km: There are several quantities this meter will calculate that you don't get with other instrumentation, such as the % extra range that was gained from regenerative braking, as well as the vehicle's average energy use in Watt-hours per kilometer or mile.
    • Peak Currents and Voltage Sag: Records the maximum forwards and regenerative currents as well as the minimum voltage on the battery pack.
    • Total Battery Cycles and Amp-Hours: Retains life cycle information on the vehicle's battery pack, such as how many charge and discharge cycles the pack has experienced and the total amp-hours that were delivered over its entire life.

    Furthermore, the meter has the ability to over-ride the user's throttle and regulate the power delivered to the motor, turning an otherwise dumb ebike into an intelligent device with a user programmable speed limit, current limit, and low voltage cutout.

    • Speed Limit: This has the utility of providing legal compliance to the speed cap imposed on EV's, and NEV's in most jurisdictions. When used with a full throttle, it serves as a cruise control on the EV.  It can also be beneficial to riders who want to increase their torque and power by using a higher voltage battery, without simultaneously increasing their top-end speed.
    • Current Limit: An adjustable amps limit is useful to prevent damage to the batteries from excessive current draw, to increase the range that you'll get on a charge, and to protect the motor controller and motor in setups that draws too many amps.
    • Voltage Cutout: A low voltage cutout is used to protect a battery pack from being discharged too deeply, which can cause cell reversals in NiMH/NiCad packs, permanent cell damage in Lithium packs, and sulfation in Lead Acid batteries. The programmable low voltage rollback allows you to set an appropriate low voltage point tailored to your pack.

  2. Additional Features

    • Remote Shunt: Unlike the watt-meters and amp-hour meters designed for hobbyists, the meter uses a remote shunt for sensing current rather than running wire through the meter.
    • Backlit LCD: The display readout is well illuminated for night driving.
    • Water Resistant: The circuitry is fully enclosed in a sealed box enabling it to withstand exposure to wet and rainy conditions.
    • Save on Power Down: Trip data such as amp-hours and distance are saved when the meter is shut off, and are restored when power is re-applied.
    • Fwd and Negative Amps: Both positive and negative amp-hours are displayed separately, so you can calculate accurate regenerative braking statistics or use it to monitor charging currents as well.
    • Wide Voltage Range: Operates from 10V to 150V, accommodating the vast majority of all small electric vehicles. A high voltage option for use up to 350V is available on special request. ( we only sell teh 350V version)
    • Flexible Speed Input: Detects vehicle speed either with a magnet and sensor cable or through the hall effect signal on brushless motor controllers.
    • Data Logging: Devices have a serial output stream that can be used for real-time recording the vehicle statistics to a computer or laptop.
